The rules in All areas apply.

Safety

  • Always use eye protection while working. Personal corrective eyewear isn’t considered eye protection and doesn’t fulfill this requirement, unless it’s certified under ANSI Z87.1. We provide eye protection that members can use.
  • Always use the fume extractor while soldering.
  • Don’t leave a soldering iron or power supply running unattended.
  • Keep the work area dry and clear of liquid containers that may spill.
  • Try to limit your project to 24 V.
    • You can use up to 48 V with low current (≤10 mA).
    • Contact @steward (electronics) in the Discord for approval of higher voltage/current projects.
  • When working with moving parts (motors, servos, etc) you must ensure everyone in the room is wearing suitable eye protection and aware when your project is active.

Before leaving

Remember to clean up any scrap wire, solder, etc. and put away any tools or extra components back in their bins.
